Karly B. Smith is a transactional attorney at WhiteBird, PLLC, focusing on corporate and real estate matters. She regularly assists clients with real estate transactions and development, corporate formation, acquisitions, restructurings, and nonprofit management. Karly also provides ongoing support to business clients through the drafting of key legal agreements tailored to each client’s specific day-to-day operations, long-term goals, and risk considerations.
Karly earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida while simultaneously holding positions within the Florida Legislature, including serving as a Legislative Aide in the Florida Senate. Her interest in policy and regulatory issues led her to pursue her Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center on a full academic scholarship. While at LSU Law, she received multiple CALI Awards for earning the highest grade in The Law of Gifts and Trusts and Small Business and Community Development Clinic, and was recognized as a Paul M. Hebert Scholar in her final semester. While still a law student, she gained practical experience across corporate, real estate, nonprofit, tax, and trademark matters through judicial, governmental, and clinical roles, and returned to WhiteBird, PLLC each summer as a Law Clerk.
A Brevard County native, Karly is deeply committed to the future of the community she calls home. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Melbourne Regional Chamber, as Vice Chair of the Chamber’s Business Advocacy Committee, and as a member of the Health First Foundation’s Young Professionals Group.
Outside of her legal practice, Karly enjoys spending time on Florida’s waterways, playing tennis, baking, and cheering on the LSU Tigers.
